Buddha Dordenma Statue, The Buddha Lies In Bhutan

Cloudy sky, cool breeze, and you are standing in the blissful valley of “The Land Of Thunder Dragon”, suddenly your eyes follow an far away eagle, after a while your eyes stand somewhere, your inner eyes gaze to the marvelous golden beauty of “Buddha Dordenma” statue. Yes, here is the pure heaven with the heavenly Buddha with a breathtaking mountain beauty around it. While sunrise it shines like a glimpse of Gold, and during moonlight it sparkles like the Polestar of Bhutan’s sky.

In the twentieth century, the renowned yogi “Sonam Zangpo” prophesied that a large statue of either “Padmasambhava”, “Buddha” or of a Phurba would be built in the region to bestow blessings, peace and happiness on the whole world. And today it is no more a spiritual dream to Bhutanese people, they proved it. Buddha lies in nowhere but in Bhutan. A perfect dedication for Buddhism, madethis dream true for Bhutanese people. This statue is mentioned in the ancient terma of “Guru Padmasambhava” himself, said to date from approximately the eighth century, and recovered some 800 years ago by terton “Pema Lingpa”.

Drive 20 minutes up through the mountain road from capital city “Thimpu”, you will reach “Kuensel Phodrang”, where the gigantic 169 feet Buddha statue is situated. This statue is under construction now, but will be done very soon. The statue alone is being built at a cost of US$47 million, by “Aerosun Corporation of Nanjing, China”, while the total cost of the “Buddha Dordenma Project” is well over US$100 million. The interior will accommodate 100,000 8-inch-tall and 25,000 12-inch-tall gilded Buddhas respectively. The “Bhutan Govt” is claiming that Bhutan will have the tallest and largest Buddha statue and it may become eighth wonder of the world. Bhutan sees lots of hopes in this project. After completion it will be probably one of the best Buddhist tourist spot in the world. Buddhist people from all around the Asia and other regions are giving a huge importance in it as well as in “Bhutan”.
