After rising up almost hundreds straight and small stairs, surely you will be bit exhausted, thirsty and panicked. But trust me, when you will just look in front of yourself, you will be amazed for next five minutes. The view of real “Krung Thep (latterly named Bangkok)” will come at first in your sight. You will be certainly amazed to see, miles and miles of civilization at a glance. Different structures of Thai civilization of last few centuries lie in those miles. All old red colored Buddhist and all old buildings are standing around the “Chao Phraya” river and more far away all the modern sharp skylines are standing like beautiful giants. The proper skylines of Pratunam, Petchburi, Sathon, Sukumvit make an extraordinary panoramic view. When you look down, you can see the soothing “Chao Phraya” with her flower like friends, which are different colors boats all around the river. Go around the temple, you will catch all the spectacular views, I can assure. The most amazing thing that I found, in the top floor of the temple, there is always a yellow colored big writing cloth is hanging around the middle part of temple. According to the Buddhism, you should write your prayer or wish in that cloth to fulfill. Well, that was the best part my Wat Arun visit. But I think I should tell you about the history of this marvelous temple.

Wat Arun, means The Temple Of Dawn. The name is inspired from the Hindu God “Aruna”. It is one of the best temples of Thailand, situated in the West Bank of Chao Phraya river. From last few centuries, in Thai history this temple was called in different names, like “Wat Mahok”, “Wat Chaeng”. The temple enshrined The Emerald Buddha image before it was transferred to Wat Phra Kaew, on the eastern bank in 1785. The temple was located in grounds of The Royal Palace during Taksin’s reign. King Rama I, moved the palace to the other side of the river. Wat Arun had been properly shaped in the reign of Rama I-V. The main feature of this temple is it’s central prongs (Khmer-style tower), which are encrusted with colorful porcelain.

After all the detail explanations, I must say in a word Wat Arun is nothing but a magnificent site of Kingdom Of Thailand. Whenever, you are in Bangkok, just grab a boat and visit the temple. Entry fees in only 50 Bhat and girls are requested not to wear any short skirt or hot pant, otherwise you have to borrow a covering cloth from entry gate of the temple.
