Overview
Situated at north-eastern corner of West Bengal, in the district of Alipurduar, bordering Bhutan and Assam. This jungle is a part of Bengal Dooars with rich flora and fauna, including huge numbers of butterflies and birds. The habitat suits for all lower and semi altitude birds with some altitudinal migrants. Buxa Hills are more rich and one of the pristine forests of West Bengal having some rare birds like Beautiful Nuthatch, White-breasted Parrotbill, Rufous-backed Sibia, etc. The important birds of this area are Long-billed Plover, Great Hornbill, Wreathed Hornbill, Red-headed Trogon, Bay Woodpecker, Blue-eared Barbet, Collared Falconet, Crested Kingfisher, etc. November to February is the best time for birding to this hotspot.

Important Notes
Need to be alert all time as this is a Tiger Reserve and highly active zone of Asian Elephant and Leopard. Need to be patience and a good pair of bino for bird observation. The bird photography in this part is a challenged one, as maximum birds are forest dwellers and skittish
type.
