This is another new trip plan but slightly different from Assam-Meghalaya tour. Packed with Jungle safari and some real unknown exotic places in Meghalaya. Away from the mainland, Northeast India is a hidden treasure of unparalleled beauty waiting to be explored. Shillong, a quaint hill station in Meghalaya, is definitely one of its brightest jewels. Famously known as the Scotland of East, Shillong is not merely the Capital of Meghalaya but also the Rock Capital of India. An abode of tranquil and serene valleys, waterfalls, parks, caves, and awe-inspiring landscapes, it also grooves to the loudest and most happening musical festivals in the nation.

Itinerary

Overnight stay at Guwahati.
Arrival at Guwahati Airport/ Meet & greet at the Airport/ Drive to Guwahati town.Guwahati is an ancient urban city and was in fact known as Pragjyotishpur and Durjaya in the state of Kamrup now known as Assam. Situated on the banks of river Brahmaputra and foothills of the Shillong plateau, Assam is known for its rich heritage. Evening go for Sunset Cruise on Brahmaputra River.
Overnight stay at Kaziranga
After breakfast drive to Kaziranga National Forest. Transfer to Guest House on arrival Kaziranga National Park This Park is internationally popular forest reserve and a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. It houses variety of flora and fauna. Mainly the residence of the Great One horned Rhinoceros, this place also houses large population other wild animals, reptiles, endangered species and birds. Evening visit Orchid Park to experience beautiful orchids and live cultural show by the tribal communities of Assam.
Overnight stay at Shillong.
Early morning go for Elephant Safari Later return to guest house for Breakfast and departfor Shillong Enroute halt at Umiam Lake for Photo Shoot. After breakfast drive to Shillong.Later go for Shillong Local Tour covering Cathedral Church, Lady Hydari Park, Wards Lake, Golf Course & Don Bosco Museum. Mawphlang One of the most remarkable features of the Khasi Hills are the sacred forests, which have been preserved by traditional religious sanction, since the ancient days. The sacred grove has an amazing life form of plants, flowering trees, orchids and butterflies. Inside the outer rim, the sacred groves are virtually Nature's Own Museum. We will go for Sacred Grove Walk. Evening free for shopping at Shillong

Early morning drive to Laitlum Canyon and further drive to Jowai to visit the Monolith Park & Sohrynkham Tea Esate. Drive back to Shillong. About Jowai Jowaiis the headquarters of West Jaintia Hills district in Meghalaya, India. It is a scenic place located on a plateau. Surrounded on three sides by the Myntdu river bordering Bangladesh to the south. Due to its high altitude of 1380 m above sea level, Jowai experiences warm and pleasant summers with cool to chilly winters. Jowai was the political and commercial Centre of Jaintia Hills since the British rule in India. Legend says that, the Jaintia Hills did not belong to the territory of the Khasi Hills and also were not under the Khasi kings. They had their own administration under the Jaintia kings who resided in a town called Jaintiapur in Surma valley. In 1835, the British captured Jaintia hills and collected regular taxes like land tax and property tax. Later, the property tax was changed into house tax in 1860 and also the British introduced the income tax and taxes on fish and on trees in the same year. With that imposition, the people revolted in 1862 and their superiority in arms enabled the British to control the Jaintia people in 1863 after 15 months of fighting.

After breakfast depart for Cherrapunjee (Sohra)/ Visit local sightseeing points – Mawkdok Dympep Valley, Dain Thlen Falls, Garden of Caves, Nongsawlia Church & Cemetery, Mawsmai Cave, Eco Park, Nokhakhlikai Falls, Arwah Caves Cherrapunjee – The Rain Capital of India Cherrapunjee is a small town located on the southern edge of Khasi Hills, a dissected plateau at an altitude of about 4823 feet (1484 m) above mean sea level. The meteorological observatory is situated at 4267 feet (1313 m) above MSL. Cherrapunjee is locally and now officially known as ‘SOHRA’. Khasi people of Mon-Khmer origin inhabit it. It is the headquarters of Sohra Civil Sub-Division and falls in East Khasi Hills District of the Indian State of Meghalaya. Meghalaya is one of the seven states of North East India with Assam to its North and sharing an international border with Bangladesh on its South. As one proceeds northward from the Bay of Bengal over the plains of Bangladesh lying at almost sea level, the Khasi Hills erupt abruptly out of the flat lands towering to a height of about 4500 feet above MSL. The deep gorges around Cherrapunjee help to funnel and converge the low flying rain bearing clouds over Cherrapunjee. Transfer to Guest House at the end of the Tour.

After breakfast drive from to Mawllynnong Village. Mawlynnong Village located in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya,also referred as ‘God’s own garden’ has won the acclaim of being the cleanest village in Asia in 2003. The village offers picturesque natural beauty, a trek to the living root bridge at a neighbouring village Riwai. The village also offers a sight of natural balancing rock, a strange natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing on another rock. Later you will visit Dawki, the Bangladesh Border (Tamabil Border from Bangladesh side). Main attraction is the Umgot river with crystal clear water. You can enjoy along boat ride there (boating charges to be paid directly). Drive back to Cherrapunjee

After breakfast drive to Guwahati or Shillong Airport.
